ORI II

ORI II is the second edition of Nigeria’s major contemporary sculpture biennial, bringing together 30 emerging and established Nigerian sculptors to explore themes of identity, memory, consciousness, and lived experience through the human head as a central motif.

Inspired by the Yoruba concept of Ori — the inner head associated with consciousness, character, selfhood, and destiny — the exhibition examines what the head carries: ancestry, cultural memory, belief systems, psychological experience, leadership, and aspiration

Heads are depicted as fragmented, elongated, masked, distorted, or reconstructed — giving form to intangible experiences. The show fosters intergenerational exchange between veteran sculptors and emerging artists
