The National Museum, Akure in Ondo State was established in 1987 to foster unity among Nigeria diverse groups where the rich cultural materials of the Nigerian people would be exhibited for the purpose of study, education and entertainment.

The museum is a centre where one can get information about the state’s history, tradition and cultural heritage.

The National Museum of Akure houses indigenous monuments, relics, artifacts and sculptors. It is one of the ethnographic museums in Ondo State.

Cameras are not allowed into the premises but gate fee must be paid before one can gain access into the building.
