Mont Marte Pastel Pencils are simply pastel material encased within a wooden shaft. Because they are in pencil form, they can be easily sharpened to a point and used to develop intricate details in a drawing. Colors can still be be layered, blended, and developed just as they would in a traditional soft pastel painting.
This pencils are soft pastels to create delicate lines and details. In order to sharpen these pencils, we recommend using a detail knife or new blade. Sharpen slowly and aim for a gentle angle so the wood supports the pigment strip. We advise against the use of sharpeners due to the very soft and fragile nature of the pigment strip.
